K'anchay guarantees girls, boys and adolescents in northern Potosí the right to quality education up to the end of secondary school, through the development of social-emotional learning skills, improved reading comprehension and access to a balanced and diversified agroecological diet.

Objectives

K'anchay’s actions focus on quality education, agroecology and strengthening sustainable community living.

K'anchay works in two departments of Bolivia (Potosí and Cochabamba): the organisation works to empower vulnerable populations in northern Potosí in areas such as agroecological production, health, community organisation and education, up to vocational level.
Its institutional principles prioritise working with the most disadvantaged populations, promoting cultural revitalisation and supporting low-income families living far from urban centres, as well as families facing family breakdown and in need of access to education.
K'anchay trains individuals capable of meeting development challenges, encouraging social commitment and dedication to the development of northern Potosí. Many of them go on to vocational training with the institution’s support.
Its educational approach is holistic: it combines quality teaching with the development of human resources capable of leading community and municipal initiatives based on proactive leadership. A third strand trains students in sustainable agroecological production methods, using water reservoirs, productive plots, solar greenhouses and livestock units for cattle, pigs, guinea pigs and poultry.
The agroecological work extends to the beneficiary communities and is achieving promising results in the geographical areas where it is implemented, creating conditions that guarantee a decent family income.

Activities

Main expected results:

  • Students at the K’anchay boarding schools broaden their learning to include at least three new social-emotional skills: responsible decision-making, relationship skills, social awareness, self-awareness and self-management.

  • Students at the K’anchay boarding schools, at different learning levels, prepare summaries, paraphrase and critically analyse at least eight literary works per year.

  • The volume of agroecological production will increase by at least 15% in the third year of the project, and at least two new agricultural foods produced at the CEA in Toracarí will be incorporated into the students’ diet.
